2026 Winners Are Announced! | See the Winners
The 21st Annual w3 Awards gave us no shortage of work worth talking about. Avocatio Studio built a keyboard-first platform that made Yi writing systems accessible, Experience Columbus turned city landmarks neon green for a Goosebumps-themed Halloween and Bravely used SpongeBob memes to give people the words to show up for their friends. Explore our personal favorites to see how these projects used digital to preserve culture, sparked nostalgia and made tough conversations easier.
1. Uni-Yi: an indigenous language revitalization web platform by Avocatio Studio
2026 w3 Gold Award – Websites: General Websites – Belonging & Inclusion
2026 w3 Silver Award – Websites: Website Features – Best Motion Design & Animation
“Most people know that I’m obsessed with languages and I’m always excited to see entrants who are too. This digital experience took it to the next level. The Yi cultures in Southwestern China have such complicated and, in many cases, non-digitized writing systems. This site preserves the writing and makes it accessible by putting the keyboard at the center of it all. I can’t wait to see what Avocatio does next.”

4. Get Goosebumps in Columbus by Experience Columbus
2026 w3 Gold Award – Marketing: Campaigns – Integrated Campaign
“This one combines two of my favorite things: my home state of Ohio and all things spooky. Experience Columbus took R.L. Stine’s hometown roots and turned them into a whole month of Halloween, with neon green landmarks, themed drinks, scavenger hunts and even Stine himself coming home for a book talk. It’s nostalgic and clever, and what can I say? Ohio’s Built to Win!”
